Hand and arm disinfection can only remove bacteria on the surface of the skin, but the bacteria that exist in skin wrinkles and deep skin layers such as hair follicles and sebaceous glands are not easy to completely eliminate. During the operation, these bacteria will gradually transfer to the surface of the skin. Therefore, sterile gowns and sterile gloves must be worn after the hands and arms are disinfected to prevent bacteria from contaminating the surgical field and causing infection.
The steps to put on sterile surgical gowns and sterile gloves:
After washing your hands, take out the sterile surgical gown and choose a more spacious place;
Distinguish the top and bottom of the surgical gown as well as the front and back. Grab the collar and separate it from both sides, turn the cuffs towards yourself, and shake the surgical gown away;
Gently throw up the surgical gown, stretch your arms into the cuffs, stretch your hands forward, and be careful not to touch the bacteria;
Later, assisted by the itinerant nurse, grabbed the collar corner from behind and pulled it back. The dresser took the opportunity to stretch his hands out of the cuffs, and the nurse remembered the collar corner straps;
The dresser bends over to hang the belt in the air, and crosses his hands to lift the belt to pass it backwards. The nurse takes the belt behind the dresser and fastens it;
After putting on the surgical gown, take out the sterile gloves, pinch the folded part of the glove cover with your hand, distinguish the left and right hands, insert the right hand into the right glove, separate 5 fingers and insert into the corresponding finger cover, and then help the left hand to complete. Fold the sleeves of the wrists with your hands crossed and cover the cuffs of the surgical gown with the folded part of the glove. After wearing the gloves, rinse the gloves with sterile saline to reduce the irritation of talcum powder to the incision.
Wearing correctly will protect doctors and nurses from infections caused by liquid, blood, etc. splashes. Therefore, doctors and nurses are requested to wear surgical gowns and surgical gloves correctly.
