Different Types Of Surgical Gloves
1970-01-01

High quality surgical gloves are usually the same type of gloves that doctors use when examining patients. The only difference between these two protective elements is their quality. The ones used during surgery are usually of higher quality and more expensive than the ones used during examinations. Surgeons wear gloves when performing surgery to prevent the spread of infection and bacteria. They are always sold in pairs and are thoroughly sterilized before packaging.

The different types of high quality surgical gloves are usually classified according to the materials used to make them.

Most surgeons prefer to wear latex gloves when performing surgery. As the name implies, it is made of latex or rubber. This type of protective gear has been used for a long time, but it is still not obsolete. The main reason for the popularity of these latex pieces is that they offer exceptional tactile sensitivity, ensuring that the surgeon can feel all parts of the patient's body throughout the procedure. The next feature that makes these gloves popular is the comfort it provides to the wearer. The components are highly elastic so that one does not experience any difficulty in putting them on. Only if you are allergic or sensitive to latex, you should look for alternatives to this product.

Next, we will discuss polyisoprene gloves. As mentioned above, these gloves are mainly used by surgeons who are sensitive to latex. Polyisoprene is a synthetic material, but its molecular structure has significant similarities to the molecular structure of rubber. However, because polyisoprene does not contain the proteins present in latex, products made from this material are not as abrasion resistant as rubber products. Another disadvantage of these parts is that they are much more expensive than rubber.

Surgeons who are sensitive or allergic to latex can also wear neoprene gloves when performing surgery. They are cheaper than those made from polyisoprene. Like polyisoprene, neoprene is synthetic. Surgeons avoid using this product type unless it is absolutely necessary because they are not flexible and are difficult to wear and adjust. Some manufacturers add a polymer coating to the inner surface of neoprene gloves to make the process of wearing them a little easier.
