1. Establish and implement an inventory system for surgical items, and all surgeries should have an inventory of items.
2. Establish the operation standard for preventing surgical foreign objects from being left behind as well as the contingency plan when the number of objects is unclear or the integrity of the objects is uncertain.
3. Before and after counting surgical items, the roving nurse shall keep the operating room tidy and the floor free of debris.
4. Dressings used on the table must be accompanied by X-ray developer strips, which must be completely unfolded and not overlapped when counting, and the developer strips should be checked for their existence and completeness, and should not be cut or arbitrarily appropriated during the operation.
5. Timing of surgical inventory: before the start of surgery, before closing the cavity, before closing the body cavity, and after closing the body cavity.
6. The content of surgical item count: all kinds of instruments, dressings and other objects that can be easily left in the body (including the appendages of the instruments) are opened on the table in the surgical bag, and the integrity is confirmed, and the quantity is accurately recorded in the "Surgical Instruments and Dressings Registration Form" and signed.
7. The principle of counting surgical items: surgical items must be completely spread out dressings, by the instrumentation nurse and the visiting nurse in the same order, and at the same time issued a sound sing count.
8. Before the start of surgery, all items are counted, and the visiting nurse repeats the names and quantities of the items recorded on the "Surgical Instruments and Dressings Registry" and reconfirms them with the hand-washing nurse to prevent recording errors.
9. The instrument nurse should check the completeness of all kinds of instrument dressings before and after using them.
10. Timely count and record the additional items used in surgery.
11. Before leaving the operating room after surgery, the surgical nurse should count the number of surgical items and check the integrity of the items again, and leave only after it is accurate.
12. If items are still left in the patient's body after surgery due to the condition of the patient, the hand-washing nurse and the visiting nurse must confirm with the surgeon the name, quantity, and location of the items, and accurately record and sign.
