In the material library of the surgical gown production workshop, there is a transparent material called PEVA. So what is PEVA material?
PEVA is polyethylene-vinyl acetate, which is a blend of PE and EVA. It has good flexibility and a little elasticity. The higher the proportion of PE, the more difficult it is to handle the adhesion. It is generally used for production membrane. The ratio of these two chemicals can be adjusted to meet the needs of different applications. The higher the content of vinyl acetate (VA content), the higher its transparency, softness and toughness.
PE features
PE = Polyethylene, polyethylene, is the simplest macromolecular organic compound, the most widely used macromolecular material in the world today, it is polymerized by ethylene.
Polyethylene is insoluble in water and has very little water absorption. Even for some chemical solvents, such as toluene and acetic acid, it only slightly dissolves at a temperature above 70°C. However, particulate polyethylene can be melted or solidified with temperature changes between 15°C and 40°C. When the temperature rises, it melts and absorbs heat; when the temperature decreases, it solidifies and releases heat. And because it absorbs very little water, it is not easy to get wet, and it has insulation properties. Therefore, it is a good building material.
EVA performance characteristics
The characteristics of EVA and PEVA are:
1. Biodegradable: it will not harm the environment when discarded or burned.
2. The price is similar to that of PVC: EVA is more expensive than toxic PVC, but relatively cheaper than phthalate-free PVC.
3. Lighter weight: The density of EVA ranges from 0.91 to 0.93, while that of PVC is 1.32.
4. Odor-free: EVA does not contain ammonia or other organic odors.
5. Does not contain heavy metals: Comply with the relevant international toy regulations (EN-71 Part 3 and ASTM-F963).
6. No phthalate: suitable for children's toys and will not cause the risk of plasticizer release.
7. High transparency, softness and toughness: the application range is very wide.
8. Super low temperature resistance (-70℃): suitable for freezing environment.
9. Resistant to water, salt and other substances: it can be used in a large amount of application.
10. High heat adhesion: It can be firmly attached to nylon, polyester, canvas and other cloths.
11. Low bonding temperature: can speed up the production speed. Keep it stable.
12. Can be silk-screened and offset printing: can be used for more fancy products (but must use EVA ink).
