On June 8th, the first international clinical trial of zinc alloy degradable interface screws and zinc plates with loops was successfully enrolled in the Shougang Hospital of Peking University, and the surgery was a complete success.
It is understood that interface screws and loop suspension plates are key implants for ACL surgery. At present, most internal plants are non degradable materials that permanently exist in the human body, posing a risk of local inflammation; However, some degradable materials such as polylactic acid have shortcomings such as insufficient mechanical properties, fast degradation rate, and uncontrollability. The degradation products of the zinc alloy material used in this clinical trial combine the advantages of high strength metal materials and degradability of polymer materials such as polylactic acid, avoiding the aforementioned drawbacks.
Data from laboratory research to large animal experiments have shown that the degradation rate of zinc alloy implants is controllable, the degradation products are harmless to the human body, have good biocompatibility, and can also play a role in promoting bone and tendon bone healing, accelerating patient recovery. At the same time, the strong development ability of zinc alloy improves the accuracy of imaging diagnosis of internal plants.
