During the surgery, the monitor suddenly displayed the patient's body temperature at 40 degrees Celsius, causing the anesthesiologist to burst into a cold sweat

During surgery, blood pressure is normal, heart rate is within the normal range, and breathing is not abnormal. Breathing and circulation are two main lines that affect the patient's life.
Looking at indicators such as blood pressure and heart rate in the first place is a conditioned reflex for anesthesia training. The alarm indicates that the patient's temperature has exceeded the normal range. At this point, looking at the body temperature again, it is indeed 40 degrees. In an instant, a cold sweat broke out from my back. Although the indoor temperature at that time was very pleasant at 25 degrees, I felt that the indoor temperature was extremely hot. The sweat flowing out was very cold, making my mind instantly clearer. At this point, I need to quickly find the cause of the matter and handle it as soon as possible. At this temperature, the patient may have experienced very serious problems.
Confirming that the temperature display on the monitor has been maintained at 40 degrees Celsius and is not a momentary interference, I began checking the position of the temperature line and temperature probe. At the same time, touch the patient's forehead with one hand. If it is indeed 40 degrees, I believe I can also detect abnormalities from the sensation on my hands. But in order to have an objective basis for judgment, it is also necessary to troubleshoot instrument faults.
As mentioned earlier, patients generally experience a decrease in body temperature. Of course, there are also reports of cases where body temperature increases due to excessive indoor temperature or coverage. However, this increase is limited and slow. However, the condition of jumping up to 40 degrees is almost only one, that is, Malignant hyperthermia.
This is the only known Genetic disorder that can cause perioperative death due to conventional anesthesia. It is a kind of subclinical muscle disease, that is, the patient has no abnormal performance at ordinary times. During the general anesthesia process, after contacting with volatile inhalation Anesthetic (such as halothane, enflurane, Isoflurane, etc.) and Depolarization muscle relaxants (succinylcholine), the skeletal muscle will undergo tonic contraction, generating a lot of energy, resulting in a continuous and rapid increase in temperature. Without specific Sex therapy drugs, it is difficult to control the increase in temperature with general clinical cooling measures, Ultimately, it can lead to patient death.
Stroking the temperature line, I realized it was a false alarm. It turned out that at some point, the probe of the temperature line fell onto the operating bed and was pressed under the patient's body, with a 40 degree heating blanket underneath. In order to prevent patients from experiencing hypothermia and various complications caused by hypothermia during surgery, a heating blanket has been kept on during the operation.
Perhaps moving the patient during the surgery caused the temperature line to fall off, or maybe someone accidentally scraped off the temperature line, it's not important anymore. It is important that the patient's body temperature measured again is normal.
