What is an N95 mask?
In fact, strictly speaking, "N95" is not the name of a mask, but a production standard.
"N95" refers to a mask with a 95% filtration efficiency for non-oil particles certified by NIOSH, where.
"N" means not resistant to oil, suitable for non-oil particulate matter, such as dust, acid mist, microorganisms, etc.
"95" means the filtration efficiency for non-oil particles is not less than 95%.
What is KN95 mask?
KN95 mask is a mask that complies with China's mandatory national standard GB2626-2019 "Self-absorbing filtered anti-particulate respirator for respiratory protection", with a filtration efficiency of ≥95% for non-oily particulate matter.
The filtration requirements and protection level of this mask are similar to N95 class medical protective masks, which can filter daily airborne particles and be used for daily protection of the population.
In general, the technical requirements and testing methods are basically the same, and the filtration efficiency of both masks can be as high as 95%.
The difference is that the N95-grade medical protection mask can meet the medical protection requirements such as blocking blood, body fluids and other splashes and surface moisture resistance.
Do you have to wear N95-rated medical masks?
N95-rated medical masks offer better protection and are more suitable for medical scenarios and situations where there is a high risk of exposure.
If you go to a hospital or visit a crowded, poorly ventilated confined place, it is recommended that you wear an N95-rated medical mask or a KN95 mask.
But in daily life, not in a long-term high-risk exposure environment, we can choose medical surgical masks that meet the YY0469-2011 standard.
