There are two types of gauze used in general, one is oil gauze, also known as Vaseline gauze; the other is Ravnol gauze, which is mostly referred to as yellow gauze in clinical practice.
There is a big difference in the usage of the two. For infected wounds, or traumatic bleeding wounds, yellow gauze is mostly used for anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and drying, such as many Band-Aids are made of yellow gauze as the main material.
Vaseline gauze is mostly used for wounds that do not heal for a long time after ulceration or surgery but have granulation tissue growth, or superficial abrasions, which are covered with oil gauze in order to protect new granulation tissue and facilitate epithelial tissue growth.
When using these two types of gauze clinically, many doctors are used to using yellow gauze, but the role of oil gauze should not be underestimated, such as after the ulceration of sores, drainage with oil gauze is better than yellow gauze drainage; local redness, there is a desire to ulcerate the phenomenon to use yellow sand strips. There are also diseases that require two kinds of gauze to be used together. It can be said that two kinds of gauze used well, the healing of wounds or ulcers can play a role of half the effort.
