(I) Scope of application
Any kind of hand washing method can not completely eliminate the bacteria deep in the skin, which gradually migrate to the skin surface and rapidly multiply and grow during the surgery, so after washing hands, you must put on the sterile surgical gowns and sterile gloves before performing the surgery.
(II) Preparation
1. Before putting on the sterile surgical gown and gloves, the surgical staff must wash their hands, and soak and dry them in disinfectant solution.
2. The sterile surgical gown package should be opened by the visiting nurse beforehand, and the sterile gloves should be prepared by the visiting nurse.
(III) Operation method
1. Wearing sterile surgical gown
(1) Take out a sterile surgical gown from the opened sterile gown bag and find an open place in the operating room to put on the gown. Recognize the collar first, lift up the two corners of the collar with both hands, and fully shake the gown, paying attention to not pointing the outside of the gown at yourself.
(2) Look at the entrance of the sleeve, gently throw up the clothes, and quickly reach into the sleeve with both hands at the same time, and straighten both arms by lifting them straight forward. At this time, the traveling nurse will pull the sash tightly behind you, so that both hands can be stretched out of the cuffs.
(3) Cross both hands in front of the body to lift the belt, and the visiting nurse will take the belt behind the back and assist in tying the belt and the sash at the back.
2. Wearing sterile gloves
(1) After putting on the surgical gown, take out the small paper packet of sterile talcum powder in the glove bag (or box), sprinkle the talcum powder on the palm of the hand, and then evenly smear it on the fingers, palm and back of the hand, and then take a pair of sterile gloves.
(2) When taking the gloves, you can only pinch the folded part of the mouth of the gloves, and cannot touch the outside of the gloves with your hands.
(3) Align the two gloves so that the thumbs of both gloves are facing forward and close together. Lift the glove with the right hand, insert the left hand into the glove, and insert each finger as deeply as possible into the end of the corresponding finger tube. Then insert the gloved left finger under the right glove opening fold, hold the right glove steady, then insert the right hand into the right glove, and finally flip the glove opening fold over to wrap it over the cuff of the surgical gown.
(4) Wash the talcum powder on the outside of the glove with sterilized external saline.
IV) Precautions
1. When wearing dry sterile gloves, you should dress first and then wear gloves.
2. When wearing wet sterile gloves, put on the gloves first and then put on the clothes.
